Cannes press conference is in a few weeks.

My In Competition predictions:

"An" - Naomi Kawase (Japan)
"Arabian Nights" - Miguel Gomes (Portugal)
"Carol" - Todd Haynes (USA)
"Erran" - Jacques Audiard (France)
"High Rise" - Ben Wheatley (UK)
"Louder Than Bombs" - Joachim Trier (Norway)
"Love" - Gaspar Noe (France)
"Love in Khon Khaen" - Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Thailand)
"Mia Madre" - Nanni Moretti (Italy)
"Mon Roi" - Maiwenn (France)
"My Golden Years" - Arnaud Desplechin (France)
"On the Milky Road" - Emir Kusturica (Serbia)
"Our Little Sister" - Hirokazu Koreeda (Japan)
"Sparrows" - Runar Runarsson (Iceland)
"Sunset Song" - Terence Davies (UK)
"The Assassin" - Hou Hsiao-hsien (Taiwan)

"The Lobster" - Yorgos Lanthimos (Greece)
"The Sea of Trees" - Gus Van Sant (USA)
"The Tale of Tales" - Matteo Garrone (Italy)
"Tori Erdmann" - Maren Ade (Germany)

which would put Ade, Lanthimos, Runarsson, Trier, Gomes and Wheatley as Comp first-timers

I'm pretty sure the next Jia Zhangke and Abdellatif Kechiche films are not ready yet - I can't get a clear consensus on whether or not the Hou, Weerasethakul, Gomes, Trier and Kusturica films are complete yet.

Really hope we see Maren Ade here.

what happened to 71 Flashmobs of a Code of Unknown Chance? Is that not close to being complete?

I wonder if Dau actually exists or if everyone in the cast and crew eventually just starved to death

I was bored so I did a stupid thought experiment. I took all the major award (1st/2nd/3rd/Director/Actor/Actress/Screenplay) winners from the three major competitive festivals (Berlin, Cannes, Venice) so far this decade, tallied what I saw and gave awards as a Cannes jury would with one tie allowed and no repeats for specific films.
