Also, the middle pic seems to have been taken in a log cabin.

Here are some pictures from my trip to Japan and China:

Me lassoing at Osaka Castle.

Me lassoing at Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan. I guess this woman wanted a picture with me but was too shy to ask, so she just ran up and did it.

Image
Me lassoing in Fenghuang, a fishing village in China.

Image
Some guys who wanted a picture with me in Fenghuang. They're the ones who took the previous picture for me.

Thanks! I was kind of a bit. It wasn't anything official or paid, I just decided that if I was going to stand out in Asia as a Westerner, I'd be the most Western Westerner I could. I've known how to lasso for almost ten years now, and I had the cowboy boots, so I bought the hat (which I now love) and the belt buckle for the trip.

I wasn't cowboy'd up the whole time, but every three or four days I'd don the ensemble. It made for some interesting interactions.

I think everyone from the US should also learn to do that, and wherever we go in the world people could say, "Look, that's an American; you can tell from the lasso," instead of what they say now.

Anyway, whatever country you represented when you were there, I am proud of your skill with the rope. :D

And, by the way, it never occurred to me to wonder this before, although I've met dozens of people from New Orleans, and even been there a few times: what do you call a resident of the city?

New Orleanian. But we also have names for people who live in some of the different neighborhoods/suburbs of New Orleans that I'm fond of. People from Kenner are called Yats (after the catchphrase "Where y'at?"), folks from Chalmette are called Chalmatians, people from the West Bank (aka the Worst Bank, aka the Wank) are called Wankers.

I've been doing a lot of photography over the past year, but got bored of doing local music shows with my digital, so I started doing a bit more street stuff with an old Canon from the 70's. Finally got a scanner (not great for pro use but fine for what I do with it) for my negatives. Some of them turned out better then others. I've noticed the photos I take are pretty much like the films I watch... carnies, neon, tits, nazis, urban rot, all the fun stuff

Those ladies looked pretty rough. That may be the best looking one of the bunch, and that was her best part. Fantastic photos, by the way.

So some of my Death Valley shots are ruined. Guessing it was from heat, but most of the roll is fine? And the frames that are messed are only partially fogged.

Looks like quite a few colour frames only have half the frame. I'm wondering if it's the camera since some are great and others are messed.

Some of those photos are stellar. Especially that one with (what I assume is) a staged gunfight.

It was Oatman, Arizona!

Part of the ghost town tour I did. Except everyday a bunch of donkeys stroll into town because people fed them so it's got a pretty decent tourist attraction going on for a ghost town.

Some off the botched photos actually have a neat effect... Parts of Death Valley look like lava since the rest of the photo isn't exposed properly.

Our local Bluesfest is back on this weekend. Two years ago it was a free show downtown, now a one day pass costs $46. And now that it's all fancy I'm not allowed to bring my camera to it either. I got some really nice ones from 2016, I still edited them heavily (filters and cropping, ugh) but I think this one of Devon Allman (Gregg Allman's son) is still one of my favourites even if it is a butchered version of the original.

Pat myself on the back, it's also a million times better then the usual shit they have paid photographers grabbing. JUST SAYING.
