Would love to explore Bergman in such detail.

Can also recommend the Swedish TV series Bergmans Video, which offers great insight despite its lack of subs!

Hi Wig! Good to hear you're giving those Italians another chance!

By Bertolucci, you should absolutely also see Strategia del ragno, one of his very best imo. I'm very much looking forward to hear what you think of Before the Revolution, Partner and La Luna.

If you're up to give Olmi another try after hating I fidanzati, try the obvious choices: Il posto and The Tree of Wooden Clogs. Olmi really is one of the great directors imo.

I enjoyed the two first Sorrentinos, L'uomo in più and Le conseguenze dell'amore, and I could totally see you liking Le conseguenze... His later stuff is far less interesting imo.

Some other good recentish ones: La pivellina (2009), Arrivederci amore, ciao (2006) Buongiorno, notte (2003)

and then of course there's Nanni Moretti's Palombella rossa, a film you'll probably hate but I totally love!

I actually think wig would like the Moretti, but I'm not sure what I'm basing this on. Maybe because I can see a bit of him in Moretti's character, or vice versa. Should watch the dude's other stuff, actually (not wig's)
How are things in Switzerland?

Swiss Dave! Hi!

I'll try Tree of Wooden Clogs, I've feel like I've tried Il posto but maybe not

Spider's Stratagem would be a great rewatch, I loved that one I think

I don't think I liked Palombella rossa as much but I loved Dear Diary and We Have a Pope

I will add those 5 newish ones you mention! THANKS SO MUCH! Great to hear from you :D

Post Re: Wamness 2014: Autunno Italiano: Fellini's Roma

You're welcome wig, and hi InHuman :-)

I'm doing well, working as a producer by now (I stopped directing), we just submitted our funding-application for what will hopefully become our first feature length fiction.
If everything goes fine, we should be shooting next summer.

Other than that, still watching films, less than I used to and mostly recent stuff, but I'm not active in any forum anymore, just lurking around from time to time.
Best films I've seen this year so far: La Bataille de Solférino / Left Foot, Right Foot / Under the Skin / L'inconnu du lac / Listen Up Philip / Love Steaks.
