 Re: Criterions for November
Not really any surprises, but damn, it's nice to see Pasolini's life triliogy and Week End getting HD treatment.
The eclipse is interesting too.

I've seen the first 20 minutes or so of Goke: Body Snatcher from Hell and it looked pretty neat--are the rest of those any good?

I've only seen The X From Outer Space but it is delightfully insane. Definitely my favorite of the many one-off entries of the 60s kaiju boom.

Oh, I just now noticed that the cover for Brazil on Blu is exactly the one they used on the DVD set, of which I bought a copy.

Re: The New Criterion Releases Thread (December 2012 Update)
Purple Noon intrigues me, and I keep forgetting that Koyaanisqatsi is part of a trilogy (its the only one I've seen out the three-awesome film, btw). I already own Following, but my copy is a cheap crappy one I bought used from a dying local video store, so I might consider purchasing it on Criterion (and finally watching it, too). Guess I'm glad I didn't buy Brazil on DVD, as I'm sure it looks great in Blu Ray.

Or like an "I have a boner and the teacher just asked me to solve the math problem on the chalkboard" uhhh? I'll definitely be buying the Brazil blu. One of my favorite movies, yet I've never owned it in any format. Because I'm stupid. Following is a very good DIY film. Not sure it needs much of a blu treatment, as Gort pointed out, but I'm sure I'll rent it and check out the special features, gotta be some cool stories about the fractured production process or something.

Re: The New Criterion Releases Thread (January 2013 Update)
There was some conference and some Criterion execs were there and they mentioned this, among other things:
Darling (Schlesinger)? no Now licensing from WB? Yes, Badlands in Early 2013 - no comment on other WB titles Le Samourai? possibly, at some point in the not too distant future In A Lonely Place? no World Cinema Foundation/Film Foundation - trying to work out WCF titles similar to foreign box set release Film Foundation restorations will always come out on BD if Criterion has them (Richard III, Colonel Blimp coming to Blu-ray) Andrei Rublev? restoration progressing in Russia - "desparately want to rerelease" Cimino made some small changes to Heaven's Gate (some dialogue, removed intermission) Some Eclipse may upgrade to Blu-ray! Les Miserables (Bernard) has restoration and may become a mainline title Apu Trilogy? in progress, another Ray title in 2013 (Apu Trilogy or other title) Some fun documentaries coming up releasing Shoah + 3 shorts releasing The Devil's Backbone (Del Toro) - mid-2013 releasing On The Waterfront in 3 aspect ratios
