I just got done rewatching that for the first time tonight to prepare for my review of it, funnily enough; still a good movie, yo

Cool. The Accountant has some flaws but I still dig it a lot.

Happy late bday Stu. I worked way too much this weekend.

I noticed first hand that the film operates on Man of Steel flashback logic, because this is secretly Man of Steel's counterpart leading up to Bman v Sman. All of the character development is handled through flashback and it's like playing Metroid where he starts off with no powers and each time a flash back happens he immediately utilizes what he learned in context of the story, such as when he was training kung fu with his brother (most telegraphed plot twist ever?). Also, there is a very specific point in the movie where Ben Afflec is all of a sudden self-aware and...

Anna Kendrick played "Girlfriend" again, well, love interest, but oh my God Anna Kendrick get it together

Evil, what's your game here. Why you julesing

Seriously what was the Solomon Grundy stuff? That's a straight up Batman reference. It has zero logic being in this movie other than stealth tying into the DC universe (the writer is going on to do the Nightwing movie so...)

It's a hugely weird movie in that it's clearly tailored for the supposed audience of Bman v Sman but... it's just a hugely weird, hugely troubling movie :shifty:

Best wishes, Joss, I got to the point where I just had to cut out alcohol aside from very rare moments which I end up regretting. I built up a great deal of anxiety towards drinking so just the placebo effect from that makes any amount uncomfortable.

Post Re: The YMCA Club

This may not be the first phishing scam contact I received, but it's the first I got on my telephone. And there is a reason I went and looked it up. The voice said that because I have stayed at a Marriott Hotel in the past, my phone number had been selected to receive a free all-inclusive complimentary stay.

I hung up, because I haven't stayed in any hotel at all since I got this telephone number.

And then I thought of you guys, and I went and sought links to marriot hotels phishing scam. Apparently this has been going on a while, but they just now got down to me. :D If they haven't already called your number, you might get the same phony offer.

BEWARE! Don't fall for it. They just want personal information from you. And the calls are not from Marriott. In fact, the spoofed phone number is not only from my area code, it has my exchange. 786-5414. It probably isn't even a real number.

I'm glad you fixed your troubles with it. I have to get a prescription for a medication that will make me sick if even a touch of alcohol is found in my blood. I have handled a lifestyle free of drinking without difficulty, but perhaps the medication would be a helpful reminder that I'm terrible at moderation.

No and yes? Like I want Wonder Woman to be good. Cuz then DC has a good movie and Marvel wont sit on their laurels. But they can do that when you have Thor 3 coming.

I finally saw the trailer for that before Guardians 2, and I didn't really get why everybody went crazy about it when it first came out. Don't get me wrong, Ragnarok didn't look bad or anything, but I didn't get much of a feel for what the movie is supposed to be about or be like, and it felt like just a series of random images from an upcoming MCU movie. I dunno, maybe I would have to have read Planet Hulk first (or watch any of the Thor movies) in the first place, heh...

Post Re: The YMCA Club

They literally telegraph, like, all the major plot points stu! Death (read: Helena) fucks up Asguard and destroys Mjolnir, a two point attack in order to secure the infinity gauntlet for Thanos along with one of the gauntlet's sole threats, Mjolnir, as it too harnesses the power of the gods. Thor is then sent to Jeff Goldblum land where he will compete with Hulk and subsequently team up for some serious buddy space cop action, but not before Hulk whups his puny god ass. Loki, being the king of Asguard, is who makes this all so entirely easy for Helena, and he becomes Mephisto, Thanos' side man. Loki, of course, is portrayed as having something of a hero role in this as he is Loki and, well, the binary is pretty obvious that he is up to some schemes

Dr. Strange is also somehow involved

Best movie ever, basically

The former, definitely, but also the latter.

Also, stupid cunts, Dr. Strange is on Canadian Netflix! And here I am way ... way the fuck north and away from civilization, my wife, my ... entire fucking life basically, like being a world renowned asshole surgeon or whatever and then locked in a buddhist monastery on top of a mountain with nothing but Tilda Swinton to keep you company. I think I basically have to, right?
