I'm starting to feel the backlash against WHIPLASH as well. Christ, Miles Teller is the globiest mayo has ever been, isn't he? Why can't it be, like, John Boyega? Ugh! Keep JK Simmons because that would make that whole element all the better what with the racial tension, no one cares about some dorky white boy getting beasted on by a Nazi who is hell bent on possessing jazz music

I liked Get Out as well, but just compared to everything else I've seen so far from this year, it's the least compared to the others. Logan, on the other hand, is the best movie from this year so far; it's not just really good for an X-Men movie (not that it even feels like one of those in the first place, really), but it's also just a really good movie, period.

I think the reason LOGAN bugs me the most is because it felt like it was patched together immediately after DEADPOOL (great movie) on account of it's success, so there is a bit of a forced element to it (srsly didn't Deadpool come out, last year?), especially after putting up with all those other Wolverine movies, like, how did they go from literally the worst movie ever in X-Men Origin to the best movie ever made in less than a year production time?

Does it tie into Deadpool at all? It's pretty crazy that Fox is managing to pull off their Xmen stuff and are fostering in the era of decent R Rated comic book films - It seems to be a pretty unprecedented movie in a way even Deadpool failed to manage at (where Deadpool is more of a "safe R" on paper, if that makes sense)

Deadpool is a real movie about real things for people precisely five years younger (and five years less objectively realized) than you are

Strangely enough, it was my parents who kept trying to sell me on it in their recent attempts to be hip and edgy with me :shifty:

No, and I think that is part of what makes Logan so refreshing, it isn't beholden to any connected universe. It shows up, tells its story, and gets out.

There is a pre-credit sequence/trailer for Deadpool, but it's terrible, and should be forgotten about the moment Logan starts.

There are subtle hints to the previous movies but they're not overt. So you can see why Jackman said that it would take place in a different continuity. It's just so good. Everyone of the actors brought it.

I have no clue as well about this, i think it's literally the same director too, also this comes out after X-MEN Apocalypse which was also very very very awful.

There is also that TV show Legion which is supposed to be a thing... people keep telling me to watch it because it would, like, reson... ugh! People!

Okay, last question, and it's important. Does it have any explosions?

I feel like the only person on earth who wasn't impressed by John Wick 2. The choreography and camera work for the action scenes was great, but there was nothing else to hold my attention. It also suffers from trying to sell the audience on movies still to come, like Larry Fishburne's character doesn't serve any purpose at all other than to let the audience know he is going to be an important part of the third film. God, I hate that shit.

The best picture category didn't have a single film that deserved to be there that year. Even though a few of the films were good, they could not stand up to the quality of the stuff that was overlooked. It's a shame Aronofsky wasn't nominated, I felt The Wrestler is his best film.
