I've almost finished God of War II for the PS2.
I like its epic set pieces and most of the puzzles (though easy). Dumb fun.

After finishing Dragon Age: Origins I'm just sort of drifting aimlessly, waiting for something else to catch my eye.

Gold and Silver > You

Those were the last ones I played that didn't involve taking pictures or playing pinball.

omg

Snap and Pinball were amazing. Amazing.
There exists no better pinball game. And getting harshly critiqued on my photography fed my masochistic urges.

I also had Pokemon Puzzle Challenge (I think it was called) for the Game Boy Color. That was fun.

I never played that, but I did have the Pokemon Trading Card game, and it was fantastic too. They really put effort into their milking of the franchise.

I'm probably going to buy a 360 with some of my tax refund moneys this year. There's a bunch of games I've been wanting to play on that system.

i hated advance wars but i couldn't stop playing it. evil game.

i'm currently playing through mother 3 and slogging through twilight princess. mother 3 is fantastic. it doesn't feel quite as epic as earthbound, but it is just as fun. twilight princess finally seems to be picking up it's pace. i also beat chrono trigger recently, was quite good.

I'm currently playing Planescape: Torment for the second or third time. Still just as good.

In addition, I'm going through a bit of a adventure game binge on the side. All the great LucasArts titles, mostly.

I can recommend a couple PC platformers. They aren't like Braid though.

And Yet It Moves is a good one. Interesting controls and art style. Trailer

VVVVVV is a lot of fun, though if you don't like chiptunes you might find the music annoying. Some parts are extremely difficult. During my play through I died almost 1000 times. Check it out here

Saira is a lot slower paced, and really is more of an exploration puzzle game, but it was created by Nifflas who I love (check out their other games here). I can't find a trailer, so a couple clips of gameplay will have to do. Clip1 Clip2

And Yet It Moves is actually part of a really good deal going on. I highly recommend everyone check it out before it ends in just under 30 hours. It's only $20 and you get some really terrific games. The Indie Love Bundle

You should check out Machinarium if you haven't already. It's an old-school point and click that came out last year. Beautiful hand drawn visuals, great soundtrack. It's part of the bundle I linked in my previous post.Trailer

The trailer is great. And I love hand drawn stuff. I need to check out Braid as well.

I can't recommend Machinarium highly enough. It's incredibly charming and thoroughly detailed, so many little touches of brilliance.

Braid is also great.

No problem, definitely look into the bundle. For all the individual pieces I paid way more and don't regret it at all. The only weak link is Eufloria, which is still pretty decent.

I played Colossus first.

It's arguably the greatest game I've ever played. Certainly the most beautiful.

Ok then. Thanks for settling that :) I've only played like 2 and a half games before so it's not like I'm a connoisseur or anything. I just figure if I'm going to to play something, even off and on, may as well make it something good.

Ratchet & Clank
Sly 2: Band of Thieves
Ultimate Spider-Man
Kingdom Hearts
Resident Evil 4
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
SOS: The Final Escape
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution

I know nothing of the third, and I intend to keep it that way. I like being surprised by what a game offers.

I didn't know anything about Mass Effect 2 before playing, and I was blown away.

Some other great ones on there but these are really great. Viewtiful Joe is an underrated, challenging little gem.

Currently playing:
Star Trek Online
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (just started...I'd like it more if I didn't keep dying after every enemy encounter)
Modern Warfare (2nd or 3rd playthrough, not sure)
Mass Effect (holy shit)

For the past year I've been on-and-off playing Far Cry 2. I can lose hours of my life in that game. Some days I devote my time entirely to the missions, others I explore the environment. That's one of the reasons I never understood the 'too much driving to missions' complaint people had...it was always a beautiful ride.

I loved the first God of War but I had trouble getting into the sequel for some reason. I want to get the 3rd one (at some point. Don't have a PS3), though, so I'll eventually play through the whole thing.

The first is better if only for the bit where Kratos gets laid. :fresh:

The cutscenes are cringeworthy.

I like the breathlessness of it all. The pace along with those MASSIVE set pieces makes it.

In a way it's better than the blockbusters in cinemas nowadays. Why can't films of this genre be like that?

They really are just like that, though.
The difference is we don't get to play blockbuster movies. :P

The upcoming Clash of the Titans remake was probably made just because of God of War. I have to admit I want to see it.

Maybe you're right. I can still watch God of War being played much easier than sit through the average blockbuster.

Am I betraying some latent, despicable mainstream gaming preference of mine by eagerly anticipating the next Final Fantasy? Which, by the way, releases on PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 9th in Europe and NA. Buy two copies.

It's okay to like Final Fantasy.

Also, Resident Evil 4 is average dammit. At least as a horror game. Well, as a horror game it just fails. It's a pretty fun action game. A bit too long though.
